Physical Science: Students will finish reviewing PS.8: Force, Work & Motion and take their test on Tuesday, Nov. 19th. They will start PS.2: Matter on Wednesday, Nov. 20.

Progress Report #3 & Final 1st Nine Weeks Grades

Final Grades for the first 9 Weeks have been posted to the Aspen system. Students will receive new and completed progress reports that reflect those grades on Thurs, November 7th. Students will receive 2 copies as usual. One needs to be signed by the parent/guardian, while the other needs to be kept in the binder.Continue reading “Progress Report #3 & Final 1st Nine Weeks Grades”

November 4 to 8: Weather (ES) and Work, Power, & Simple Machines (PS)

Earth Science students will learn about clouds, weather phenomena, and present weather station projects. On Friday, students will begin their review of Atmosphere and Weather to prepare for the test on Wed, November 13th. Physical Science students will learn about work, power, and simple machines. They will calculate work and power, as well as investigateContinue reading “November 4 to 8: Weather (ES) and Work, Power, & Simple Machines (PS)”

October 28 to November 1: Weather (ES) & Newton’s Laws of Motion (PS)

Earth Science students will be studying Isolines (Isotherms and isobars), Land Breeze/Sea Breeze, Weather Stations (Cities Weather Project assigned on 10/29 and due 11/6), Fronts/Air Masses, and Science Fair Breakdown (Science Fair assigned on Nov/1 and due in parts as listed on the main page). Physical Science students will learn about Newton’s Laws of MotionContinue reading “October 28 to November 1: Weather (ES) & Newton’s Laws of Motion (PS)”

October 21 to 25: Atmosphere (ES) & Motion (PS)

This week, Earth Science students will continue learning about the atmosphere by discussing the Greenhouse effect, CFCs & the ozone layer, volcanic eruptions, and global winds. Students will be taking a quiz on Atmosphere on Thursday. Physical science students will be learning about speed, velocity, and acceleration. We will also be working on speed calculations.Continue reading “October 21 to 25: Atmosphere (ES) & Motion (PS)”

October 14 – 18: Atmosphere (ES) & Energy (PS)

Earth Science students will be learning about the atmospheric layers, atmospheric composition, temperature, and how the atmosphere evolved over time. Physical Science students will be taking the Energy Test (PS.5) and conducting the Airplane lab to measure time and distance while exploring the scientific investigation process! Students will calculate speed as we investigate motion, startingContinue reading “October 14 – 18: Atmosphere (ES) & Energy (PS)”

October 7 to 11: Solar System/Universe (ES) & Thermal Energy (PS)

Earth Science students will be taking the Stars Quiz #2 on Monday (HR Diagram, Moon Phases, Planets, Eclipses, Meteors, Comets, & Asteroids). The notes are due on Monday, but they will not be turned in. I will check them before the quiz! On Tuesday, we will complete peer reviews of our Planetary Travel Brochures andContinue reading “October 7 to 11: Solar System/Universe (ES) & Thermal Energy (PS)”

Sept 30 to Oct 4: Thermal Energy (PS) & Our Solar System (ES)

Physical Science students will start this week by investigating the relationship between heat and thermal energy. We will learn and review relevant vocabulary, take notes, watch videos, while comparing temperature scales and investigating the phase change diagram of water. Currently, our test on this unit is scheduled for Wed, October 16th. Earth Science students willContinue reading “Sept 30 to Oct 4: Thermal Energy (PS) & Our Solar System (ES)”

Sept 23 to 27: States of Energy (PS) & The Universe (ES)

This week is the start of new content! We will take our SGA #1 in Physical and Earth Science and determine our starting understanding of science! Physical Science students will be investigating potential and kinetic energy as well as numerous forms of energy including electrical, chemical, nuclear, radiant, mechanical, and thermal. Earth Science students willContinue reading “Sept 23 to 27: States of Energy (PS) & The Universe (ES)”
